The Democratic Camp School is a worldschooling community located in Los Caños de Meca, near Tarifa, Spain, running from January to May 2026. This unique programme is inspired by democratic education principles from Sudbury Valley School and Summerhill, combined with the unschooling movement. The worldschooling project operates through a sociocratic decision-making process where all members, including children, participate in voting on school life aspects such as scheduling, activities, and responsibilities.
The setting is a coastal location just 7 kilometres from Tarifa and 200 metres from the beach, with the renowned Valdevaqueros Beach nearby, surrounded by rolling hills and the Andalusian coastline. The programme welcomes families from around the world for a minimum stay of one week. Parents are active participants, committing to share their experiences, passions, and expertise by designing and leading group activities for children. These activities may include science experiments, hiking, nature exploration, filmmaking, music-making, and various other creative projects.
The educational philosophy centres on making learning fun and grounded in real-life experiences, while providing children with a peer community to play, learn, and cooperate with. The goal is to make quality education affordable and overcome the challenges of solo homeschooling by creating a collaborative learning environment. Contact the organizer for pricing.
